The exact 1936book plate labels this standing dog COLBY’S TIGE. The adjacent printed caption says whelped 1896, sire Colby’s Paddy, dam Colby’s Jennie, and identifies John P. Colby, Newburyport. This matches existing PITVU public_id 01M59C4C2VSANBXZ8JV5KT5K7R/catalog_key colbys-tige, FIAPBT 12590 and the retained 5652 Bunch parent context; it is not another modern Tige. Identification is attributed to this original caption, not independently authenticated. Whelping 1896 is NOT the photograph’s exposure date, which is unknown. The first retained publication here is this 1936 book. Wikimedia Commons identifies this portrait as Colby’s Pincher. FIAPBT public record 5650 displays the same standing portrait: head turned toward camera, three dark flank patches, pale legs and studded harness. The two reproductions support image-to-record matching; their common original and independence are not established. The existing PITVU identity is separately source-reported; the photo does not verify parentage. FIAPBT reference: https://www.fiapbtpedigree.com/imprimir_ficha.php?criterio=5650

Reuse basis: Wikimedia Commons classifies this US historical photograph as PD-US-expired (publication before 1931), citing The Dog Fancier, edited by Eugene Glass. Photographer unknown; circa 1896 is a repository attribution, not an independently established exposure date. The exact original issue/page is not supplied. PITVU relies on this documented repository classification, not on permission from FIAPBT or the uploader. No contemporary copyright or conflicting attribution was identified in the inspected references.
