Wikimedia Commons classifies this historical US photograph as PD-US. PITVU relies on that explicit repository classification, not a licence from its uploader or the dog’s age alone. The photographer and exact first publication are not supplied; 1903 appears in the caption and repository date field, not an independently established exposure date. Mariano Peinado’s signed historical article expressly authorizes copying and distribution: “tienen nuestra autorización para copiarlo y difundirlo”. This is an embedded captioned figure in that article, not an unrelated pedigree image. PITVU relies on that publisher-author authorization for the article and its embedded figure; no separate exclusion was found for this figure. The underlying historical photographer and first publication are unknown, and the publisher’s complete rights chain is not independently authenticated. This does not establish permission for other pages or collections. The original HTML, caption, download URL and SHA-256 are retained.
