Historical context

Colby’s Primo is the Brandy–Mabel male in FIAPBT 865, dated 29 May 1935 and described as black brindle with a white blaze. The catalogue names J. P. Colby as breeder and owner; a Greek retrospective credited to Paco Zanoia names Louis Colby as breeder. These remain separate reports. Primo appears in accounts of the transition from UKC/ADBA Pit Bull registers to AKC Staffordshire Terrier recognition. ASTCV’s history credits him with some inspiration for the 1936 standard, while the 1997 family book describes a committee using him in part. Zanoia’s reported-conversation account questions the direct-model story. Published registration references are accessible with the sources; their conflicting UKC digits are not resolved by an examined certificate.
